Unit sales January
Frankfurt, 12. February 2010. The Vtion Group, one of the three leading
suppliers of wireless data solutions for mobile computer use in China, has
seen an increase in monthly sales volume for January 2010; for the month of
January 2010 the Vtion Group sold a total of 227,237 data cards. Selling
prices were higher than in December 2009, at approximately 377 RMB.
Compared to December 2009, sales volume for January shows an increase of
17%, and an increase of 404% compared to January 2009.
‘We are happy that in addition to the framework agreement we were able to
get in place with China Unicom on Monday, we have seen a strong start to
the year for our sales in January,’ stated Vtion CEO Mr. Chen Guoping. ‘We
expect that the sales volume for February will be lower than that of
January, due to a week long holiday for the Spring Festival. However,
following the holiday, we should see the telecom operators begin to
implement their development strategies for the year more fully, which bodes
well for us.’
Currently, the telecom operators are continuing to build up their networks
with mid-range product offerings. As network and user base development
continues on the part of the carriers, Vtion will look to leverage this
position to supply more of the top-end products, as well as to take
advantage of service and application business opportunities as they emerge
following the optimisation and continued maturation of the networks, Vtion
continues to be a top hardware supplier in the rapidly expanding market.
The Chinese wireless network industry is currently going through a process
of market development from second generation networks to network standards
of the third mobile phone generation – known as 3G standards. China is the
only country in the world with three different 3G wireless standards, the
CDMA 2000 EVDO Network operated by China Telecom, the WCDMA Network
operated by China Unicom and the TD-SCDMA Network operated by China Mobile.
Network rollouts for the latter two networks are still in progress; the
Vtion Group is expecting the completion of the establishment of 3G mobile
networks to lead to a further increase in demand for wireless data cards in
China.
