Co-Founder and Vice President of Technology to Facilitate Panel Discussion
Addressing ‘The Challenge of Home Entertainment Networking’
ADVISORY, March 3, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) —
What: As digital HD video becomes the expected experience in
a home entertainment environment and implemented in
parallel with innovations in home networking technology,
it becomes possible for consumers to enjoy HD video
content in new and exciting ways that allows for the
distribution of simultaneous multiple HD video streams
while enabling new services such as multi-room digital
video recording (DVR) and mobile remote viewing. The
challenge when streaming HD video over a home network
is degraded quality. The only way for a home network to
meet and exceed quality expectations is to provide
uncompromised reliability, robustness and throughput
regardless of the topology of the home or the type of
multimedia content.
The Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA(R)) Technology
Summit will address these challenges through
presentations from leading Service Provider and OEM
experts who will provide overviews of home network
environments and the challenges they face. There will
also be a presentation by IMS Research and product
demonstrations by MoCA members. MoCA officers,
operators and MoCA members will be available throughout
the Summit to meet and answer any questions. MoCA
officers will also provide organizational and
technology updates that address the challenges facing
service providers, installers, and designers of home
entertainment networks.
As the co-founder and vice president of technology
responsible for new technology initiatives and
standards activities at Entropic, as well as the CTO of
MoCA, Dr. Anton Monk will introduce and participate in
these sessions during the summit. Dr. Monk previously
led the engineering development of Entropic’s coax-
based multimedia networking chipset and technology,
which is now the de facto standard for multimedia
networking in the United States. He also serves on the
MoCA Board of Directors. Dr. Monk holds a M.S. in
Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of
Technology and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the
University of California, San Diego.
