Munich, 31 October 2008 -PlasmaSelect AG (WKN 547 180) will today publish
its report for the 3rd quarter of 2008. The report describes the company's
extensive progress in advancing its transformation from an operational
corporate holding in the healthcare sector to an investment holding
company. The directly associated one-off and extraordinary expenditures for
restructuring measures in the company's Health Care division plus startup
costs for the expansion of the company's new Water Treatment division
generated negative EBIT of EUR -9.5 million in the third quarter and negative
EBIT of EUR -11.4 million for the first nine months of 2008. These
expenditures break down as provisions and expenditures for the closure of
the Marburg plant (EUR 3.4 m), consulting and restructuring costs for the
reorientation and internationalization of the Health Care division (EUR 1.4
m) and a one-off payment (EUR 0.4 m) from the second quarter. The Water
Treatment division was a new addition in the third quarter; its EBIT is
fully consolidated but economically regards PlasmaSelect AG just in 30 %
and in 70 % other shareholders. During the establishment phase, this EBIT
of EUR -2.1 million (100 %) was primarily burdened with goodwill
depreciations on the technologies (EUR 1.6 m). Excluding these special
effects, the total nine-month EBIT of PlasmaSelect AG would reach EUR -4.1 m,
an adjusted level (excluding the generics business) equal to that of the
same prior-year period (EUR -4.0 m).
Sales revenues for the third quarter of 2008 rose year-on-year by EUR 52,000
to EUR 8,648,000 (3rd quarter of 2007: EUR 8,595,000). Despite the turmoil in
the global economy, corporate sales for the first nine months of 2008 fell
year-on-year by only 4.7% to EUR 26.3 m (compared with EUR 27.6 m for the same
period 2006/2007).
