Pocket Communications Launches Pocket Power Pay-As-You-Go Monthly Electricity Service in South Texas and Rio Grande Valley
Pocket Communications (“Pocket”), one of the largest flat-rate wireless
carriers in the nation, today announced the launch of Pocket Power,
monthly Pay-As-You-Go electricity service. Unlike other services, Pocket
Power doesn’t require a deposit, credit check, long-term obligation,
social security number, or even an ID to sign up. Since customers pay in
advance for the service, there’s no need for background checks or
identity verification. It’s completely hassle-free, and only simple
information about your residence is required in order to calculate
payment for the first 30 days.
Pocket Power is available for everyone – those in homes, duplexes,
apartments, mobile homes, and even businesses. Switching to Pocket Power
is easy: you can activate your account by phone or in person at
your local Pocket store. Customers pay for electric power each month in
advance on a month-to-month basis. The first month’s bill is estimated
using the size of the residence as a baseline, then that month and each
month thereafter is assessed based on actual usage. If the customer goes
over, that amount will be added to a subsequent bill. Every six months,
Pocket will “true-up” the customer’s account and if they are due a
credit, they will be mailed a refund check.
“This is our way of providing electricity that is giving people a choice
in how they want their service delivered, making it affordable and
accessible to everyone,” said Enda Flynn, General Manager of Pocket
Power. “Once people sign up with us, they can get their deposit back
from their old electricity company and use it just like they would with
a tax refund check. We’re confident that customers are going to find
that making the switch is well worth it and that Pocket Power will soon
be as well known and successful as the Pocket Wireless brand.”
In the four years since Pocket was founded, they’ve established
themselves as the third largest pre-paid flat rate carrier in the
nation. Their power service appeals to the same demographic, and they
hope to carry their success over into the Pocket Power brand.
Pocket will also offer a perks program with discounts based on usage and
how long customers have been with Pocket Power, as well as discounts for
those who sign up for both wireless and electricity service. Pocket
Power is now available in a number of deregulated electricity markets in
Texas, including the Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, and Corpus Christi. For
